Panther Nation-
On Thursday, September 24th, the Administration at Heber Springs Schools was made aware of a positive COVID-19 case in the Heber Springs Elementary School. The Administration has contacted the Arkansas Department of Health for further guidance, and through contact tracing by the ADH and HSSD, the individuals who were at risk for primary exposure have been contacted. The Administration will continue to closely monitor this situation moving forward.
I want to thank the families of those impacted for their patience and understanding as we worked through this situation.

JOSH PARK MEMORIAL
The award winning Heber Springs Cross Country teams will open up the season this Tuesday, September 15th at the 22nd Annual Josh Park Memorial XC Invitational. Teams from all over the state will come to Dam Site Park to participate in this race.
Josh Park was an active member of the cross country team, track, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and all around well-liked student at Heber Springs High School. The entire Panther community was deeply saddened with his and another student’s passing in December of 1995.
The Heber Springs High School track team was instrumental in the development and construction of the Josh Park Memorial Trail and is honored to have this annual race for the past 22 years.
FIRST RESPONDER NIGHT
The Panthers would like to take the time to honor all of our First Responders at this Friday night’s game against the Dover Pirates. Any First Responder will gain free entry to the game by showing their badge or identification. Please come out this Friday, September 18th, as we honor these amazing men and women of our community. Kickoff is at 7:00pm.

5th GRADE
Ms. Ballard’s 5th graders took their Science skills to a whole new level by sorting states of matter into solids, liquids, & gases.
THANK YOU
SSGT. Eric Newberry came by Heber Springs High School yesterday to speak with our Juniors and Seniors about Career Exploration and the choices they need to make as they are leaving high school.
He discussed several of the opportunities students would have in college, vo-tech, and the military. SSGT. Newberry also showed basic budgets of college and the cost of living on your own versus living with parents.

SCREENINGS
The Middle School nurse will be conducting hearing and vision screenings on 6th graders and 8th graders on September 14 and September 22. Remote or flex students will be scheduled to come by appointment at a later time, if they are not in classes during the screening days. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they have them on these days. This helps to prevent unnecessary referrals.
